Happy National Trail Mix Day!

It’s tomorrow if you didn’t know.  Here at AllpakTrojan, we like to celebrate the fun and wacky holidays just because they’re fun and wacky.  We even make cards for them and send them around to our customers.

Operation Backpack

This week, we want to give a big shout out to Ronda Mithun and the entire Social Team of AllpakTrojan for the amazing work they have done with “Operation Backpack”.  For the past month, they have successfully collected numerous backpacks and stocked them with school supplies for kids in need, so that they can start the school year prepared.

Planning this charity effort began back in the beginning of summer.  In addition to collecting donations, Rhonda and the Social Team put together a raffle for AllpakTrojan staff in order to raise funds for the supplies.  Seahawks tickets, jerseys and other fan items were put in the raffle.  These efforts allowed over 70 backpacks and countless notebooks, pens, folders etc. to be purchased and donated to the Salvation Army of Renton.

These contributions are part of the giving spirit inherent here at AllpakTrojan.  Not only does it bring employees together, but helps the surrounding community.  It is especially impressive considering that these activities are done in addition to their usual work load.

If you would like to learn more about “Operation Backpack” and how you might help, please contact us at 425-227-0400.

AllpakTrojan Social Team Shout Out: Rhonda Mithun, Michele Hohlbein, Patrick Poelvardi, Kelly McDonald, Mary Bullard, Elsie Hughes and Naree Ngin

We would also like to say goodbye and good luck to our wonderful intern, Hannes!  This is his last blog post as he is off to Germany to pursue graduate school.

Here Ye! Here Ye! National Manufacturing Day is Coming...

What is all this talk about the shortage of skilled labor? Isn’t everything manufactured overseas these days anyway?  Manufacturing is boring right?

In order to clarify these and many more questions, not to mention debunk the myths about manufacturing, AllpakTrojan is proud to announce….

National Manufacturing Day on October 4th.

AllpakTrojan will be one of the many hosts across the country taking part in this event.  The focus this year will be on youth education and technology in the community.  It is meant to raise awareness about the industry, showcase state-of-the-art technology; as well as, explain challenges and opportunities for future generations that want to get involved in manufacturing. Let’s get our youth excited about this type of business!

Stay tuned for more info in the weeks to come.  You can also learn more about this nationwide event by clicking the link below:

STOP for Safety!

In previous episodes, we have discussed areas involved in the box making process, such as printing and laminating.  However, there are other processes and services not directly related to box making that are just as important. One of these areas is safety.  Stephanie and Hannes interviewed the man whose impeccable sense of fashion is almost as renowned around here as his reputation as the Safety Coordinator. Let’s meet Cullen Kunkel and hear what he does at AllpakTrojan:

Unfortunately, you can't see Cullen's blue suede shoes, but nice hair!

What is your title here and what do you do?
I am the Safety and Environmental Compliance Coordinator.  I try to ensure that people go home with their fingers and limbs still attached. I train employees on safety and make sure our facility is safe to work in.

What is the most exciting part of your job?
I love being able to help employees! I like making AllpakTrojan a safe place for everybody.

What are your favorite things to do when you are not at AllpakTrojan or at Fashion Week in Milan?
Very funny guys (while laughing and fixing his hair). I like to hike and camp in the Cascades.  I am originally from George, in eastern Washington, and have always been outdoors hiking around. Other than that, I like to walk my Bernice mountain dog with my wife and go on vacation to Hawaii and Spain.

AllpakTrojan adopted the STOP safety program from DuPont.  The Safety Training Observation Program focuses on teaching employees how to think about safety differently by developing observation techniques calling out safe and unsafe acts.  If you would like to learn more about the STOP program, please visit our website www.allpaktrojan.com or better yet, come by and take a tour of our facilities.
